Another Valentine's Day spent alone. I'm not complaining because it is the state of my life. It's been like that for me since I was old enough to know that girls were different. There have been a few good Valentine's Days, when I had someone in my life to share the good vibes and chocolate with. One of them was even a keeper, but here we are...

No, I'm not complaining. But I'm also not buying chocolate and cards for anyone either. And, of course, I expect none of the same. But I did get a letter today, from a girl! And it made me very happy.

The girl is my daughter and she lives across the country. In the first place, just getting a letter from her is special. She doesn't write much. Neither do I, not anymore. But last week I sent her a Valentine's Day / Birthday gift in the mail and she was inspired to write back.

She's expecting a girl in May and this will be her second child. The news is that she now knows it's a girl. They have chosen the name Nayana Mai. Her son, Veda Vyasa, is soon to celebrate his 4th birthday. Of course she is happy and excited, even though she did complain once about how she was thought she was done with dirty diapers. Ha, I told her. I stopped at one.

She is thinking about moving. Her and her partner have both traveled to India, and they have friends around the world. Apparently some friends who live in Thailand have really put a bug in their ear. She wants my opinion.. how nice. I'll give it some thought and get back to her, no doubt. It's not as if I need to hurry, these are long range plans they are talking about. The whole prospect of immersing yourself into another country and culture to raise a family and live out your life is daunting. She's a little uncertain right now. I can understand that completely since I have already done something similar.

The fact that my favorite girl sent me a letter for Valentine's Day is enough to bring a smile to my face. It's been a long time for that.. I could almost hear my cheeks cracking.
